Information Searches

Introduction:  Internet Searches
Which do you need?

Subject directories and search engines are similar but not exactly the same.

Subject Directories
They are:
     assembled by humans
organized by subject topics and subtopics, like the   branches of a tree
better for broad topic searches, then narrowing the   search, as climbing a tree branch to a leaf

Search Engines
They are:
compiled with computer programs (robots or spiders), not human eyes
accessed with keywords and Boolean terms
    better for precise information searches
